Lion's Tale
Snoop Dawg is the new PikachuFriday, June 08, 2012 By Chris Robert
What could the author of this article been thinking to compare a Pokemon with a Rapper. I am talking about Platinum League Trading Cards. Platinum League is putting the street into Trading cards, by using rappers instead of baseball players or Yugioh dragons. Some of the rappers to sign a deal with the company include Snoop Dawg, Lil Scrappy, Scarface, and even the deceased Notorious Big, and Tupac. Though the card are not only rappers that made it big, but also people who have not made it as big like Devin the Dude, TY Ryan, and T.O.. At first it seemed like a great idea to me, but I came to the realization that Platinum league does not have stars that I would want to have a card of such as Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Jay Z, Eminem, Dr.Dre, .50 cent, and Wiz Khalifa none of them have signed a deal (yet). It is hard to say if more of the extremely famous rappers will signed up. I think it all depends on if the cards can sell without more rappers signing up, if so then it is just a matter of time before other rappers want in on a lite extra fame and fortune. When deciding to write a review about this Platinum League it is hard to decide what to write about. On one hand it is really help unknown rappers get a chance to prove themselves and make it big, or as Eminem once said “One shot do not miss your chance to blow, opportunity comes once in a lifetime”. One the other hand it is a chance for famous rappers to get even more money. Aside from all that, there is a cool new feature that could revolutionize paying cards. There is a QR bar code on all the cards that you can scan to hear the rapper that is on the card. This sounds cool, but the video is usually extremely boring. All in all the Platinum League trading card brand still needs work, but has the potential to beat baseball cards and Pokemon. |
