Movies: coming soon to theatres! Marvel’s the Avengers (May 4): The Avengers will bring together the super hero team of Marvel Comics characters for the first time ever. The movie includes Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk and more, as they are forced to band together to battle the biggest foe they’ve ever faced. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (May 4): Follow a group of British retirees who decide to “outsource” their retirement to less expensive and seemingly exotic India. Enticed by advertisements for the newly restored Marigold Hotel and bolstered with visions of a life of leisure, they arrive to find the palace a shell of its former self. Though the new environment is less luxurious than imagined, they are forever transformed by their shared experiences and discover that life and love can begin again when you let go of the past. First Position (May 4): For the young dancers at the Youth America Grand Prix, one of the world’s most prestigious ballet competitions, lifelong dreams are at stake. With hundreds competing for a handful of elite scholarships and contracts, practice and discipline are paramount, and nothing short of perfection is expected. Bess Kargman’s documentary, First Position, follows six young dancers as they prepare for a chance to enter the world of professional ballet, struggling through bloodied feet, near exhaustion and debilitating injuries, all while navigating the drama of adolescence. Dark Shadows (May 11): An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp), is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection. What to Expect When You’re Expecting (May 18): Featuring Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez, the story follows the relationships of four interconnected couples as they experience the thrills, terrors, surprises, aches and pains of preparing to embark on life’s biggest journey, parenthood. Battleship (May 18): Aliens, known as The Regents, arrive on Earth to build a power source in the ocean, but come in contact with a navy fleet instead. Hysteria (May 18): Doctors in London treat cases of hysteria, characterized at the time by a woman’s irritability, anger or unexplained tears, with a new electrical device for treatment for the ailment. Men in Black III (May 25): The MIB duo of Agent Jay (Will Smith) and Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) are back in action. When an evil alien threatens the world, Agent Jay travels back in time to 1969, where he teams up with the younger Agent Kay to stop an evil villain named Boris (Jemaine Clement) from destroying the world in the future. Emma Thompson will play take-charge MIB operative Agent Oh, who is monitoring a prison breakout. Moonrise Kingdom (May 25): Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl. TV: Don’t miss out on your favorite shows! America’s Got Talent (NBC): Tuesdays @ 8:00pm, 7th Season Premiere, May 14, 2012. Talents are showcased for a chance at 1 million dollars. Howard Stern joins Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne to lend their expert judging opinions; hosted by Nick Cannon. American Ninja Warrior (NBC): Tuesdays @ 9:00pm, 7th Season Premiere, May 21, 2012. ‘American Ninja Warrior” is on U.S. soil this time around, with the finals being held in Las Vegas. Contestants are competing on the world’s most difficult obstacle course for $500,000 cash prize. Only 3 competitors from the past 15 years have successfully completed the Ninja Warrior course. Hell’s Kitchen (FOX): Tuesdays @ 8:00pm, 10 Season Premiere, May 29, 2012. In the search for a new head chef at one of his renowned restaurants, Chef Gordon Ramsay puts chef contestants through rigorous culinary challenges such as blind taste tests, creating original signature dishes with great presentations (it’s not “all” about the taste), and run a successful dinner service in “Hell’s Kitchen.” After the dinner challenge, the losing team will have to choose two chefs to put up for elimination. Ramsay will choose who to save and who goes home. Keeping Up With the Kardashians (E!): Sundays @ 9:00pm, 7th Season Premiere, May 20, 2012. For those of you who do not know, this is a reality TV show following the very famous Kardashian family. Why they’re famous? Nobody really knows.
