Ways to make a difference: March of DimesWednesday, January 04, 2006 By Sarah Vogan
March of Dimes is a non-profit organization that helps to prevent premature babies/births. Over half-a-million babies are born prematurely every year. Some of these babies will die and some will live their whole lives with serious health problems and conditions. So, this month March of Dimes is trying to ask members of congress to sponsor the “Preemie Act.” The “Preemie Act” is an act that would expand Federal research, health education, and health services related to premature birth. If you’re looking to help out in anyway, we have a simple project for you. All you would need to do is write a letter to Congress stating how important it is to be aware and concerned about premature births and deaths. To find out more information on premature births and/or to write a letter to congress you can visit the March of Dimes website at www.MarchofDimes.com. Then on the bottom right you will see “Preemie Act” click on that and it will take you to the main page for the “Preemie Act.” There you will be able to download the outline for the letter and personalize it. We need your help, so remember, “Because we can, we must.” |
