Junior and DECA member Madison Estes says she learned about the program from working at Triton’s school store.

“There are various types of competitions there but I did a professional selling event and had to sell a fake language learning software to a vice president of a pharmaceutical company.”

She also would suggest it to any freshmen and sophomores not sure if they would do it; “If you could start as a freshman and do it for 4 years, that would be great” said Estes."You have more time to learn how to present and practice role-play.”
“We’re trying to prepare and stay focused at this point, but we’ve got a pretty competitive group of students this year with their sights already set on Salt Lake City for the international competition” says Triton DECA’s director, Frank
D’Aloisio
.
DECA is complementing our existing business program at Triton with real world experience and challenges. It allows high school business programs to keep their curriculum on an even playing field with other schools and gives the ability to compare student progress. It does so by competitions, either written, individual or team events.

DECA isn’t just a business program to compete in, DECA provides workshop training through its’ Leadership Academy, access to visits of nationally ranked business programs, scholarship opportunities and fun days such as a day with the Celtics.

“And I need to stress on point, no one actually loses in a program like this” says Frank D’Aloisio “yes the completion is real, but DECA is a true character builder and resume differentiator. For example, our eight  members this year won’t just include DECA membership and their individual achievements as part of their resume…their resume will designate that they were instrumental in leading the initiating to establishing Triton’s first DECA chapter! My expectations have always been high with the caliber of students at Triton. Up for a challenge…join us and aspire higher!”
