Since starting the school year, students and staff have become aware that a new principal was hired over summer break. Most have also wondered what he could be like. Principal Timothy Hodges is more than happy to help shed some light on the subject. Despite being an Iowa native, Principal Hodges began his academic career in Lino Lakes, Minnesota as a teacher fresh out of Luther College. At a population of just over 20,000, Lino Lakes is a formidable town with a middle school to match. Even after obtaining an administrative position Principal Hodges felt he had gotten to know very few of the 1600 students. This is a situation he would like to remedy in Cannon Falls by being as involved as possible and building strong relationships with both students and staff. Principal Hodges is currently living in Farmington with his wife Anne (a school social worker) and their children Jack (4th grade) and Gemma (Kindergarten). The principal believes living in Farmington could be helpful when running Cannon Falls Middle School/High School by providing a fresh, unbiased viewpoint. Simultaneously, Principal Hodges believes his greatest challenge will be learning an entirely new school system. Principal Hodges enjoys action and adventure movies with his friends, shooting trap/skeet with his dad, and participating in his children’s extracurricular activities such as taekwondo, dance, and soccer. His personal favorite school moment was making it to All- State Choir in Iowa. If he could share one fun fact, Principal Hodges says it would be that his brother is a monk who makes/sells soap at a monastery in Indiana. The next time you pass Principal Hodges in the hallway don’t be afraid to say hello. He’ll appreciate the warm welcome.
