The Academic Excellence Awards program was held in the Cannon Falls High School auditorium on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 and over $51,000 in scholarship money was awarded to many seniors. Receiving scholarships were: Jeremy Schroeder, Kaci Vandenhuevel, Marek Haggerty, Blake Singewald, Tom Monson, Maddie Stiehl, Evan Carpenter, Justin Larson, Dean Quinn, Sara Meyers, Collin Prestegaard, Kalyn Reinardy, Emily Balder, Katie Schreyer, Nathan Zibolski, and Aaron Nerud. Also presented with awards were: Jordan Montgomery, Nikki Braun, Sky Johnson, Marguerite Haggerty, Hannah Phelps, Samantha Heski, Tyler Anderson, Cody Gentry, Jacob Ritter, Kelsey Lee, Kaity Sjoblom, Madelyn Baartman, Lizzie Brown, and Matthew Shorter. Other recipients included: Rebecca Welt, Lucas Schneider, Spencer O’Reilly, Catherine Johnson, Stacey Glaess, Lauren Peine, Andrew Sharot, McKenzie Sesker, Emily Nelson, Willis McDonald, Jared Duffy, Jordan Blakeslee, Samantha Leverton, and Samantha Wolter. Scholarships were also presented to Sylvie Mae Spear Ternus, Mitch Hendrickson, Anna Ballman, Aaron Busch, Luke Partello, Allison Pederson, Mitch Sabrowsky, and Emily Benson.
Department awards were presented to students who demonstrated outstanding achievement in the various academic departments by selected teachers. Academic letter winners were awarded certificates recognizing their 3.33 or better GPA for three consecutive quarters. The finale of the program was the awarding of the Hall of Fame awards to two seniors who are ranked in the top half of their class and are well-rounded in school and community activities. These students also must be considered to be a leader and are respected by both their peers and the faculty. Hall of Fame awards were voted on by the high school faulty and were awarded to Spencer O’Reilly and Maddie Grosland.
