Ultimate Frisbee, Leadership Council, National Honors Society, Cross Country… With all of the diverse clubs and sports to join here at Hoover it is not hard to overlook those that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Possibly the most overlooked is the Teen Board. Its name is deceiving; there are no sophisticated CEO’s smoking cigars and arguing about company policies, what there is however, is a group of students who are unbiased enough to help choose the rightful winner of the Repository’s Teen of the Month.

Senior AJ Crofford is not only the new president of Hoover’s Teen Board, but he is also vice president of the Repository’s Teen Board. He is the president of the National Honor Society, coeditor in chief of the Viking Views, and plays on Hoover’s golf team.

“The more stuff I have to do, the more organized I am and the better time-management I have,” he said.

Guidance counselor Mrs. Margie Blake oversees the Teen Board here at Hoover and said how Crofford will be a wonderful president.

“I can tell already,” she said. “He shows a lot of initiative, he’s responsible, he kind of thinks outside the box and he’s just straight up easy to cooperate with.”

Senior Becca Moore, one of Crofford’s close friends, agreed on what a great president he will be.

“I think AJ is the best person for the job,” Moore said. “He’s an amazing leader and so many people look up to him.”

Blake commented on how the position will help him in the future.

“I think it obviously looks good on a résumé, but he’s getting something much more important,” she said. “He’s developing leadership skills and gaining experience.”

Gaining experience and leadership skills are something Crofford thinks he will gain from the experience, but for now, he says he is honored to be in the position he is.

“I think it’s a big position, and I am very honored that after just meeting people within the first half-hour I made a good impression on them,” he said.

Moore said that having this position and holding others will affect Crofford’s future.

“I think that AJ will be very successful in the future,” she said. “He is an amazing young man with great focus and determination, both [of] which will get him very far in his life.”
