The computer programs here at Dunnellon High School are of extensive variety. There are over ten different classes of different levels and specific areas on which to focus on. Some of these classes include PC Support I and II, Digital Design I, II, and III, Web Design I and II. All of which are instructed by Mrs. Lambert. There’s also Business Software Applications, Introduction to Information Technology and Administration Office Tech, which are instructed by Mrs. Molloy.  All of these classes give students a foundation on which one can work professionally in the work force of today. In today’s technological world, more and more jobs are requiring computer skills of one form or the other. It’s great that Dunnellon has taken that to account and has provided such a strong computer program in their curriculum. This gives students a chance to do hands on work and to discover if they would like to pursue a career in computers.

The Digital Design classes focus on the digital publishing industry. It teaches students about how computers are used to design many of the advertisements, movie covers, and everything else we see today in magazines, the internet and even on tv.  Students learn how to use and master Adobe Photoshop by working on different projects, each project working with different techniques and tools. Once they are familiar enough with the digital designing programs, then they are given freedom to work on designing something of their own.

The Web Design classes give more focus, not on how to design images, but how to make up web pages so that those images that have been designed can be displayed on the internet for all to see. These classes show the basics of html and CSS and have students code their own web pages on notepad. After they can code html website on their own, they also learn to use web designing software such as Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver makes the process easier, but it takes some learning to use it to its full potential. You can learn to use so many different Adobe programs in all of these classes, which will come in handy in the future.

Not only do you learn how to design, but you learn how to type more efficiently, and learn how computers work in general. PC Support, Business Software Applications, Introduction to Information Technology and Administration Office Technology, will teach you all you need to know about computers when going into the business world. Not only do you learn to use it all, but some students go the extra mile and take part in competitions and certification exams. Now that’s how you take the most out of your high school education.

I could go on and on explaining all of the many classes there are to pick from, but I’ll just leave all of that for you to find out and pursue on your own. The outside world, of business, design, and any office job is now requiring that you know how to use computers efficiently. It’s great to be familiar and even certified in programs like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. This can be achieved with our computer classes.
