The seniors will be deciding on a senior song soon. This is not just any song. The senior class song is a big deal and it will be our song for a lifetime. I have decided to hit the halls of our school and ask around about the nominated senior songs. I have talked to various seniors with different back rounds and beliefs.
The first senior I talked to was Samantha Jenkins. She did not really enjoy any of the nominated songs. She told me though that “Get Down On It” will be fine even though she does not really like it that much. I walked further down the hall and I came across Taia James. Taia strongly believes that "Get Down On It" should be our senior song. Taia and I broke out into dance mode to that song and it strengthened my belief for that senior song. There are many people that I have talked to that want “Get Down on It” as the senior song. The more people I talked to the more results were for “Get down on it.” I guess I did not talk to the people that wanted Green Day’s “Time of your life.” The senior song Time of your life was the winner of senior song.
Once “Time of your life” won the majority votes of the senior class, I was shocked. Everyone that I have spoken to said they wanted “Get down on it.” I think that the senior song is not original and unique. Senior song should be a reflection on the senior class’s behavior and character. “Time of your life” is not a good choice because everyone uses that song. We use the same senior songs over and over again. I do not understand why people will not stray away from the norm. I don’t know about the rest of the senior class, but I would have liked a senior song that was unique. Maybe future senior classes will understand the importance of originality in picking a senior song. One day a senior song will be an original idea and not replayed from previous classes.
