The man is cracking down once again, only this time we’re not at Woodstock. This is Wall Street 2011, and this era has produced a whole new generation of backtalk. This mob of economic hippies has consumed the putrid asphalt in the Big Apple.
One of the most enthusiastic protesters on Wall Street is Matilda She. "You want to know what we are protesting? Government stupidness, man, that’s what," She said. "Divided we seem powerless but together we’re like the all-mighty Megazord from Power Rangers."
These protesters are like modern day hippies, saying that the government is corrupt and they think they should do something about it. Although this is true, what do they think they can do to change it?
Greg Sargent from the Washington Post says, "They want to persuade blue collar whites and ordinary middle class Americans to turn on the movement for cultural reasons — because its optics offend these voters’ cultural instincts — even if they broadly agree with its general principles and critique of what’s gone wrong."
So hopefully in their favor "persuading" this one percent of rich men and women will stop this massively corrosive bank power. That means even if they have to pee on cars they’re on it. These are smart men and women of the ninety-nine percent if they know the secret to fixing the world’s problems.
One of the most popular media booms in ages for these riots is occupywallst.org. This website is the main source for information on the matter. The so called fuel behind the fire for these protests is the recent uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia. Something that happened halfway across the world inspired one man living in his basement playing his Nintendo 64.
Kalle Lasn, already founder of "ad busters’ media foundation" and producer of programs for PBS, was inspired by these uprisings and his company branched into America to start Occupy Wall Street. Some think this man belongs in a looney bin; others agree with him and are already checked in.
Wall Street has become the epicenter of public disturbances. Many people have been affected by the yelling, screaming and violence displayed here. One such person is Balthazar Ketchum. "They’re all a bunch of Bob Marley lovin’ hoodlums that wanna push this country down likes it’s a four year old on a playground," Ketchum said. Ketchum is very mad at these protesters "Because they are yellin’ so loud I can’t hear my FOX News," Ketchum said.
Matilda She knows all about Ketchum’s aggravation but what she has to say is absolutely stunning. "We are going to push this country down like a four year old on a playground and when it cries for its momma we are not going to give it any ice cream," She said. It’s clear that these protests are affecting everyone.
The tragic corruption of banks has crumbled a country to its knees. Some believe we will recover. Others believe we will die. As the 99% what will we do? We will party. We will pee on cars. We will survive.
