Teamwork is vital to any sport, but not every team gives the same support to each of its players such as the volleyball team. Alice Kang, a senior, has played volleyball for only one season, but so far she has immensely enjoyed the experience she’s had on the volleyball team. Alice first joined because she wanted to be on a sports team and her friends had also joined. Later, she learned it was much more than just hitting a ball over a net. Over the course of the fall season, she saw herself, and the team, grow as they practiced and played games.
Alice views the team as “being supportive of each other” and helping one another improve their skills. Together, they have been through numerous events, seeing the highest and lowest points of their season. These experiences have strengthened their confidence to face their opponents.
She hopes that the incoming freshmen will be encouraged to join the volleyball team, because they are always looking for new members. Alice wants to have a good season this year, but she doesn’t want to do this by compromising the bond that they’ve built last year.
