This novel tells the tale of one of them; Ishmael Beah, while fleeing attacking rebels was taken from his family and forced into the army at the tender age of 13. He spent three years doing unimaginable acts until his was rescued by the UNICEF. This book is extremely mind opening and inspiring page turner.

Anyone interested in psychology would find the emotional turmoil of Beah very intriguing. In addition, anyone interested in modern day conflicts and problems would find this book very enlightening.
