The P-CEP Girls Hockey team is taking the ice this winter looking for another great season. The Penguins had an impressive run last year, but came just short in the state championship in double overtime.

“We hope to improve throughout the season and win the state championship,” said Canton senior and Penguin goalie Kaitlyn Allard.

Some key players for the Penguins will be Canton seniors Jackie Lough and Mariah Tucker, Plymouth senior Nicole Natleborg and Salem sophomore Jenna Carter.

“Each girl [plays] a vital role on the ice; we all have to come to each game ready to give 100 per cent,” said Plymouth senior defenseman Emily Bullock.

The Penguin players feel this will be their year to take the state crown. Last year they were runners up, and they captured the division title.

“Our main goal is to advance together as a team, practice hard and play hard in our games. We really want to win our division state championship,” said Lough.

The first puck drop of the season for girls was Nov. 15 against Country Day. The girls dominated, winning with a score of 8-0. Since that game, the girls have had a record of 4-1.

“Most of the games we’ve played so far have been blow outs,” said Emily Bullock.
