During the winter season, there is not a sport that focuses on running. This leaves cross country and track runners trying to find the motivation to run on their own.
P-CEP track coaches have found an answer to this problem. The P-CEP girls indoor track club has been created and is now up and running. Practice began on Monday, Jan. 9.
Practices run Monday through Friday. Mondays and Fridays focus on conditioning separately at each of the schools, and then girls practice together on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Summit. The club plans to compete at nearby meets.
What is so different about this club is the uniting of girls who normally compete against one another. Some teams at the Park have always been united. Going from rival teams to a united team is a different case.
This gives the girls several opportunities. Relays can be a mix of girls from each school, field events can work together, and everyone can learn from each other. This new club opens many doors for all three teams.
