A beloved Salem High School math teacher, Mrs. Weisz, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, June 12. Not only was she a teacher, a great friend to many, a wife and a mother to her two children, Jared and Leslie Weisz, but a valuable member of our community. She dedicated much of her time to being the MSA advisor at P-CEP and was always available to give students extra help. This unfortunate tragedy was a surprise to all and truly happened out of the blue. Within a little over a week, she battled through three unexpected brain aneurism, which is basically a bubble part of an artery that leads to your brain that sends unneeded blood to a person’s brain when ruptured, and was still standing strong. “She had a headache that randomly turned into an aneurism and she had two strokes because of it, but came out completely fine. It all just randomly happened. She was perfectly fine and stable after the first three,” said Jared Weisz, Canton sophomoreThe first two aneurisms occurred nine days before her death, the third occurred the day before and the fourth was very early Tuesday morning. “On the fourth one, the pressure was too great and too close to her brain stem and she could not make it through,” said Leslie Weisz, Canton graduate.Due to the large population at P-CEP and her popularity with students, rumors were created saying that Mrs. Weisz went into a coma. The Weisz family cannot stress enough that she never ever went into a coma and her death was related to the brain aneurisms she experienced. Her presence will truly be missed at the Park, but her spirit will always reside there. On the last Thursday of school, students placed flowers in her classroom in respect for her. “I cannot believe she is really done. You were a great teacher and friend. Thanks for everything, Mrs. Weisz. You will be missed,” said Karalyn Hewett, Salem senior.
