Who? The Almost is alternative rock band, from Tampa Bay, Florida most notable for being the side project of Underoath drummer/vocalistAaron Glillepsie. Aaron Gillespie is an obsessed man. Whether he is in front of The Almost or in front of other bands, this Florida-bred songwriter/musician can’t help but throw himself into everything he does.
What? Southern Weather is The Almost’debut album. With Southern Weather, The Almost lets Gillespie put a different, more melodic side of himself on display.
Sound? For a new bad they are not so bad. The lyrics speak about life and reality, something that most new artists have forgotten to incorporate in their lyrics. The sound is alternative rock, so it’s not hard to hear like other rock. It’s great for people who like mild music with powerful lyrics. One of the songs “Say it Sooner,” is one of the most inspiring songs of the album. The lyrics talk about deception when the person gives all the love and the other half doesn’t know how to appreciate what is given.
Worth the Riches? If you have money lying around, then I would recommend buying the CD. It is good investment if you are interested in the alternative rock type of music. If you are more in to rock then I would recommend you to buy other types of music. Overall, I’d say give this CD a chance and you won’t be disappointed.
Sounds like? As soon as I heard the first song “Say This Sooner,” it automatically reminded me of Boys Like Girls. The lyrics and the rhythm of the music are so much similar to them, but they have their differences. If you are in to Boys Like Girls or Matchbox Twenty then you should try listening to The Almost.
