The Next Generation

Skrillex is told to be the next generation of all music as we know it. This seems almost impossible because there first album only came out Dec 2010, making Skrillex fairly new. The music consists for the most part of no real instruments but is all computer generated making it more of a techno type genre. Don’t let this fool you though this is something new and totally different, this is DUBstep.  DUBstep feature a series of high hats, symbols, and modulated bass drops. One of the most amazing things about Skrillex is that it is all done by one man and no other people in are in a band with him he is simply a solo artist. This solo artist is Sonny Moore who puts all these insane DUBstep music together with just one computer.

Skrillex could be compared to Bassnectar another talented artist who takes place in making the next generation of music. Also it could be compared to Daft Punk, one of the first techno bands or Deadmau5, a newer techno artist. In a song by Skrillex, Breaking a Sweat, the Doors are featured. How is this possible? Its all done by old recordings. What is really interesting about this song is Jim Morrison, the lead singer of the doors actually says, “ The new generation’s music … might rely on electronics, tapes. I can envision one person with a lot of machines, electronics, singing or speaking, just using a lot of machines.” Skrillex is nothing shy of absolutely phenomenal and you should all check it out.
