Graduation is around the corner. What are seniors planning to do after that?
For most, the answer to this question is simple: to get out of McMinnville. Others have more complicated plans. “I’m going to MTSU to major in Art and History to become a curator at a museum. I am also going to try out for independent winter guards and hopefully DCI,” said Oslin Youngblood.
Seth Smith has cooking planned in his future. “I want to move to Nashville, go to college, and become a chef.”
A lot of seniors want to go to college, but have no clue of what to do after. “I want to move to Aspin, Colorado and go to college there. I don’t know what I am going to do after that,” said Jonny Teike.
While many students said they simply wanted to get out of McMinnville or expressed a great desire to finish school, Greg Butcher expects that he will return to the classroom in the future. He is planning to become a teacher.
“I am going to college to major in teaching computer classes at a high school level,” Butcher said. “I want to teach computer classes somewhere in a high school in Tennessee.” Jasmine Vasquez also wants to become a teacher. “I want to go to MTSU to major in Elementary education. I want to teach somewhere in the state.”
Some students, such as Bobby Hammond, are not planning to go to college immediately upon graduating. Hammond said he plans to create a band and tour, but the majority of students The Explorer interviewed said college was on the agenda.
Rachael Wollenweber said she is planning to go to attend Motlow and the University of Memphis. She wants to major in Japanese and eventually teach English overseas.
