The Friends of the Library are a group of people who work together to raise money to support their local library. They help purchase new equipment, such as computers, and projectors, and in the case of this most recent book sale, they are raising money to buy a DVD cleaner, and possibly a popcorn maker for events held at the Crook County library.

Every third Thursday of the month, the friends of the library get together to hold a book sale to help raise the money. I had the pleasure of going to one of these book sales to see what sort of things go on. I entered the library and was greeted by a large number of tables filled to the edges with books. They had everything from Non-Fiction to Fantasy.

There were many people there, all purchasing, browsing, or just coming to visit the library itself. The books at the book sale were extremely cheap, making it easy for any book lover to come and buy a new book to enjoy over the weekend, or the course of an entire month. I enjoyed my short time at the book sale and would much like to go back as soon as possible.

People who join the friends of the library get some special things as well, such as a friends of the library news letter, the opportunity to meet new people, and help raise money for your local library. So if you love to read books, or love meeting new people, or just want to help out. maybe the friends of the library could be an organization for you.
