Joselin
Oudemans, a fifteen year-old from Hammonton, New Jersey, is not the typical
Jersey girl. Though she owns a shirt that reads, “Jersey girls don’t pump gas”,
she does much more than go to the gym, tan, and do laundry. In fact, she is
opposed to tanning beds, unlike the locals who became a reality TV sensation.
Oudemans is very adamant about having a healthy diet. In fact, she has been a
vegetarian for nearly three years. She’s different from most teenagers, because
she not only dislikes junk food, she loves healthy food. In fact, she doesn’t
even like candy. Being as healthy as she is, her dream job is being a fitness
trainer and nutritionist.
Oudemans, to
my shock, has not seen the movie Mean Girls, which most teenagers consider the
epitome of adolescent American culture. A kid at heart, Joselin’s favorite TV
show, when she can watch it, is Spongebob Squarepants. In addition to Spongebob
Joselin likes watching Jersey Shore when she has time. Being from New Jersey,
she finds the ridiculousness of the Jersey Shore cast amusing. Joselin Oudemans
may be different from many teenagers, with her healthy lifestyle, but this is
what will make her someone who makes a difference in this world.
