Union-Endicott High School senior and bowling team captain, Vicki "The Viper" Peters, signed her letter of intent Friday, May 27, to attend and bowl at Adelphi University.
Peters, who last season bowled a 217 average, led her Tigers to the state finals. She is going to join a Panther's bowling team who placed third in this season's USBC Intercollegiate Bowling Championships.
In her five-year high school bowling career, Peters lead her team to multiple state meets, Section IV and STAC titles. Also in the last three years, Peters had the best individual STAC per-game average.
"I had offers from other schools but I wanted to stay close to home so I chose Adelphi," said Peters.
When asked if she would say which other schools she had to consider, she respectfully declined a comment.
Peters has been a life long bowler but she didn't always want to bowl in college.
"At first I didn't want to, but it wasn't hard to decide that I should," said Peters.
Bowling however won't be the only thing "The Viper" will be doing at Long Island's Adelphi University. She will be majoring in Kinesiology starting in the fall.
Peters may be a courteous, respectful, and studious pupil in school, but she will always be the intense "Viper" when she's out on the lanes.
