The Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. - Terry Kyne

There are a lot of activities to keep you busy that are not too far from home if you’re planning a stay-vacation this spring break.

A good place that many students can go to is the Wisconsin Dells. The Kalahari, Wisconsin’s largest indoor water park, offers a surfing isolator and roller coaster water slides, or try the Wilderness and its many indoor water parks including Wild West, Klondike Kavern, Wild Water Dome, and Cubbies Cove. Both of these hotels have deals and savings for people on spring break.

If you would rather shop, The Wisconsin Dells also has the Tanger Outlets. This is a shopping mall with over 60 name brand outlets from popular designers. Other unique shopping options include Gurnee Mills or the Seven Mile Fair. The Seven Mile Fair has many great deals and is a good experience for those adventurous shoppers.

If you want to go out and have some good food and hear some live music, there are plenty of places around the city to go. During the week of Spring break, Simple City Soul, Motion City Soundtrack, and HIM will be performing at the Rave. To get some great food, the Safe House is a spy theme restaurant found downtown Milwaukee that has great American cuisine.

With someone needing blood every three seconds in you community, giving blood would be a great way to help out. Over the week of spring break there are three places to donate blood: High Point Office Center, Wauwatosa Donor Center and Waukesha Donor Center.

If you want to do something more active, you can go to one of the many Admirals game that will be playing that week or you can grab a group of your friends and go ice-skating. The Pettit skating facility has public skating every day from 11-1 and from 7-9. It is very inexpensive at just seven dollars to get in and three dollars for skate rentals.

For an educational experience, try the Milwaukee Public Museum that now has the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible: Ancient Artifacts, Timeless Treasures. To get into the museum it is only ten dollars and to get into the exhibit it is twenty dollars. Also in the museum is the Humphrey IMAX Done Theater. There will be two different shows playing the week of spring break, including Wild Ocean and Dead Sea Scrolls.

When most students are disappointed that they are not going any tropical of spring break, they can just look at all these fun activities to keep them busy over the long week.
