“What classes should I take next year?” is a common question asked by high school students as they fill out his or her registration papers. After many years of dealing with the hassle of losing papers and kids not getting them signed and handed in on time, the faculty at Audubon High School has decided to go digital when it  comes to helping their current and future students plan their academic careers. This transition is similar to registering for courses at post-secondary institutions.
College students can lie in bed and register for classes. To register, students need to go to the school website, click on the registration link, type in their name and student number and pick their classes. Guidance counselor Gary Strasser believes that the new way will simplify the registration process. “By next year we won’t even print registration forms. This will also help to take the heat off of Joyce Groteluschen,” Joyce commented “I will still have to check all the online applications to make sure everything is right.”
Even though this new process is simpler, Mr. Strasser still believes the parents need to play a vital role in their children’s future plans. “Parents still need to talk to kids about classes.” The influence of their parents may give students a better perspective of what lies ahead of them.
