“Drink Man” has debuted on the THS speech team and promises to stay until the end of March. “Drink Man” is a creation of Wanda Sykes’ and part of the humorous interpretation piece that sophomore Jared O’Garro is using during this speech season.
O’Garro has enjoyed good success with his piece, winning first place at Laramie High School’s Novice tournament (Dec. 1-2) and second place at Guernsey High’s novice tournament (Nov. 18), and third place at the Cheyenne East novice meet (Nov. 4).
Trevor Rife has led the novice Public Forum team of Rife and O’Garro to second place at Laramie, 1st place at Guernsey, and second place at Cheyenne East.
Success has also been claimed by junior Lauren Lewandowki. A three year member of the Trailblazer speech team, Lauren brings leadership and class to her fellow colleagues.
Her sister, Morgan, placed 5th at this past weekend’s Laramie Invitational and is proud of her performance.
“I did well for it being my first varsity meet,” Morgan said.
Hopefully the leadership and enthusiasm on this year’s team will contribute to Torrington’s first 3A State Speech title since 1984.
“We should have some strong showings going into this weekend’s meet at Laramie County Community College.
