Homecoming King Grant Foster - Tabitha Kizzar
Homecoming for the Eagles basketball team was disappointing, but the crowning of a new king and queen seemed to lift the spirits of the crowd.
Homecoming
traditionally means the crowning of a homecoming king and queen. The candidates were announced
a few days before the student voted during lunch. The candidates for king are
Dedrick Dean, Walter Martin and Grant Foster and the candidates for queen are
Sarahi Garcia, Casey Pierce and Stacey Moreno.
“I’m really, really glad Grant won. He’s awesome and he deserves
it,” said junior Callie Williamson.
A homecoming pep rally was held on game day to encourage
people to come to the game. Several games were played to get people excited
about the homecoming event and in school spirit, such as the softball pass, toilet paper dress-up contest the spinning bat relay race.
“Yeah, Student Council’s done a bunch of fun games to get everyone
excited for the game. I thought it was pretty awesome,” said sophomore Catlin Absher.
The basketball teams played against Star Spencer. Both games
resulted in a loss for Harding Charter Prep.
“It was a good game, but I’m really disappointed we lost,” said
sophomore Kevin Burton.
