The 4th Annual Valentine’s Day Cake-Off brought decorative and delicious cakes to the halls of The Charter School of Wilmington Fifteen teams competed, a total of thirty students, in the competition judged by the Charter faculty.
Cakes were left in the office during school hours for faculty to vote for their favorites. At the end of the day, eleven of the fifteen cakes were cut and served to students and faculty. Four were donated to the Veterans Hospital in Elsmere, Del.
Seniors Megan Scott and Lisa Poirier won first place with a “lovebird” theme. Senior Katie Cardona won second place with a cake decorated as a SweetHearts box. Seniors Leah Way and Tori Wufsus won third place with a pink calculator cake. Sophomore Samantha Freeburn and senior Ceci Arce received Honorable Mention for a cake with two lovers at a picnic in the park.
