If you took a walk through the high school hallways last week, chances are you ran into some pretty strange looking characters.  The school has seen Aztecs, Mexican foods, and some crazy mismatched outfits!

This was all part of Spanish week in Willow Springs High School.  Students had fun dressing in their Spanish Society tee-shirts on Monday, wearing crazy clothes for Carnival Day on Tuesday, donning their best Aztec gear and hearts on Wednesday, wearing Mexican food themed clothes on Thursday and finally either growing or taping on mustaches for Friday.

This is the first year for Spanish Week.  Members of the Spanish Society club approached the Spanish teacher, Mrs. Griffith with the idea.  It was originally planned for the week of Cinco de Mayo; (May 5th) however, due to E.O.C. testing, it was postponed.  The amount of participants varied along with the themes.  Some days weren’t very popular, like Thursday’s theme, while the others attracted more attention and interest.

There were a couple of students that really stood out to Mrs. Griffith.

“Jennifer Green and Jennifer Kraus looked great on Carnival Day!” Mrs. Griffith said excitedly, “I also really liked the Aztecs and their costumes on Wednesday.”

Did you miss out on this year’s Spanish Week fun?  Don’t worry!  The Spanish Club has decided to make this an annual event.  Spanish Week next year should fall in September during Hispanic month.
