Students at LACJ showed just how talented they really are at what the school hopes will become an annual talent show. On Thursday, March 17, 2011, Martin Luther King held its second talent show since 2006.

The talent show helped to discover and develop students with special diverse talents in dancing, singing, music, poetry or indeed any amazing talent with entertainment value. The show was held in the auditorium from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Moments before the talent show began, students were already lined up ready to buy their tickets to get inside the auditorium. Tickets were $3 in advance and $5 at the door. The line was extremely long, filled with many students and parents. The line started from the auditorium all the way down to the basement.

Over 300 tickets were sold and as a result the school made over $700. The talent show was hosted by Junior Wednesha Campbell. The show featured performances from students in all grades, each with their own unique talent.

Ms. Campbell started the show off with a performance of the song Moment for Life by Nicki Minaj featuring Drake. Her performance immediately got the crowd hyped up and set the mood for a great show. The audience was on their feet every moment during the show.

“I was nervous a little but once my friend Jason Carter gave me a pep talk and the curtains opened up all my fear and nervousness went away. Overall the talent show was amazing. I’m proud of everyone. Everyone did their best and hyped up the crowd,” said Wendesha Campbell.

There were many performances conducted by a variety of the students here at MLK. All the performances were different and unique in their own way. One of the performances that stood out the most was Junior Saidah Saye Hill’s rap performance. Saye Hill performed her own rap to the beat of quite a few songs such as Speaking in Tongues by Vado.

Everyone seemed to be extremely surprised at the overall outcome of the talent show. All of the performances exceeded the expectations of the entire audience.
