High school goes by faster than you think and after high school you begin to start the path for the rest of your life. What is in it for you? Have you ever thought rigorously about what you will do when these four years become your last day? The Bloom Trail Staff shares their ideas and thoughts to help you start your own personal path to your future.

Have you begun to think about what you will do after high school? The military, college, straight into your career? You may already have an idea or may not have a clue. Some students are afraid of the future and believe that planning or thinking about the future will be too frightening for them. A lot of people feared the future, but made sure they had a basic idea or plan so it didn’t come as a shock. The staff gives advice to help you decide and guide your futures and careers.

“Nowadays you need a marketable skill,” said the principal, Mr. Ron Ray.

By this he means that you need to be trained in something people will be in need in i.e. computer programmer, lawyer, doctor, etc. The assistant principal, Mr. Frank Kuzniewski, believes you should do what you need to do to become a productive member of society.

Mrs. Lauritsen and Mrs. Majewski, school counselors, encourage students to continue their education and Mr. Doyle, another school counselor, believes you should do what interests you, “If that’s the military go to the military, if its college go to college.” Mr. Nelson, crime prevention counselor, says, “You should go to college, but whatever you have to feel successful.”

If you find it hard to decide or are having any problems, the school has hired a new counselor especially for higher education, Miss Amy White, White’s job to interact with the students to pinpoint certain career options by taking test, creating personal learning plans, planning classroom activities, and booking motivational speakers. She holds two degrees, a Masters in Counseling from St. Xavier and Bachelors in Law and Society (Sociology). White feels that the school is very welcoming to her and she can not wait to meet some more students.

Some students I have strong aspirations to join the military after high school. Naval Science Instructor of Bloom Trail’s Navy Junior ROTC Chief Lamacki questioned students, “Would you rather go to school and pay your way through or have someone pay you through in about the same length of time?” Chief Lamacki is speaking of that when you enlist you can get an education paid for by what military branch you join. It also comes with the discipline and military training, which is always profitable for today’s world.

Altogether the staff believes you should and will always continue your education after high school. The Bloom Trail Staff wants every student who graduates from Bloom Trail to become successful in life and whatever they may do. So as a school we should prove the staff right.
