Cupid’s Arrow

Valentine’s Day, February 14th, is a day of love and romance.  It can also be a day of depression and loneliness.  But for most people they love Valentine’s Day because they can show their affection to their love or companion.  How do the students at Norte Vista High School view Valentine’s Day?

The pros of Valentine’s Day are always affection and passion.  From the presents to the kisses, it is a day of love.  On this day, people have the opportunity to take their significant other on a romantic date.  They can also ask out their crush!  Ricky Fannero, 12, said, “[Valentine’s Day is] a time of loving.”  Finnero agrees that it is a special day where couples, and even singles, can show their loved one an enjoyable, romantic time!  “It’s a day where I can get chocolates and roses” said Irina Hernandez with a big smile, a sophomore at Novi.  Apparently girls adore chocolates and flowers! So guys, make sure you treat your girlfriends to some delectable sweets and aromatic roses.

Not everyone feels the love and excitement of this day of romance. Maybe they’re single and don’t have a crush! Aww! Carlos Hidalgo, 10, claims that Valentine’s Day is, “a time of depressing loneliness.”  Hidalgo says there isn’t anything to hate about February 14th but, “people don’t want to be alone!”  TJ Gonzalo, a freshman at Novi, said, “I don’t care to be single but it’d be cool to not be, ya know?”  Of course, there is nothing wrong with being single.  So if there are any single ladies out there Carlos and TJ are single!

Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you have to find someone to ask out on Valentine’s Day. Enjoy it with your friends or with your family. The movies or possibly ice skating could be a fun activity for a group.  Some people believe that it is hyped up. People shouldn’t be so worried about being alone.  So don’t fret if you’re trying to avoid Cupid’s arrow!
