Free food, volleyball, and football; what could be a better way to bring the community together? A dance to top it off, of course.

On Aug. 28,West Franklin High School held a block party for the community. Many people came to show support for the sports teams, and to see what kind of progress they have made. But they also got free hotdogs and soft drinks.

Volleyball began at 6:30 p.m. with the West Franklin High School volleyball team competing against alumni girls. At 7:30 p.m., the football began with the team showingfans some of the plays that will be used this season.

Once the sports activities were over, the dance began. Seniors from last year joined current students to get yearbooks and visit with their old classmates.

Principal Rick Smith said that this turned out like he expected considering it was the firstblock party.

He said he wanted to bring thecommunity into the school and show them what the Falcons are made of this yearand get them involved. For the first year it appears that Smith’s goal was accomplished.
