For the seniors at West Franklin, the end of the school year is quickly coming to a close. The tasks now at hand for these seniors can be stressful, from filling out scholarships to meeting deadlines for final projects. The stress facing the seniors can be nerve racking, exhausting, and in some cases, can cause Senioritis.
But for Nate Snethen, keeping calm and staying focused is his cure for getting too stressed out. Nate Snethen, son of Paul and Johna Snethen, was born in Ottawa, KS on July 19, 1993. Nate attend Williamsburg Elementary school and up into 7th grade of middle school, until the combination of Williamsburg, Appanoose, and Pomona in 2008. Nate has become both academically and athletically successful in high school. His academic awards include being a Kansas Honor Scholar, a KU Honor Scholar, he was on the Principal’s Honor Roll for all four years of High school, Academic All League, and he received academic letters all throughout high school. Nate is also currently one of the five students in line to be class valediction this year.
Nate has also played an important role for the athletic part of West Franklin. Nate has lettered in Football, Baseball, and in cheerleading for being the mascot.
Nate brings our mascot Freddy the Falcon to life. He can get the crowd cheering every time with his enthusiastic spirit and impressive one handed pushups.
When Nate isn’t studying hard at school or playing sports, he likes to hang out with his friends and enjoy his hobbies which include paintball games, mudding in his 1995 Jeep Rangler (YJ Rio Grande Edition), fishing, and snowboarding wherever he can find snow.
After high school, Nate plans on attending Kansas State University to pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering. When asked what he planned on doing after college, Nate simply answered “get an awesome job that I love going to everyday.”
And for the underclassmen that are getting stressed about school or start to feel the pressure from sports, just remember Nate’s motto. “Keep calm and stay focused, you’ll be alright.”
