The Roseville JV and varsity girls track team had a meet last Wednesday against Del Oro. Sophomore Morgan Simpson ran the 100m and 200m on Wednesday for the first time ever. This didn’t slow Simpson down, as she came in first in both events in the JV meet.

“I was nervous before the race since I’ve never done them before, but I’m glad it came out good,” said Simpson.

At first, Simpson didn’t really want to run those events, but the motivation of her sprint coach pushed her through.

“I’m going to continue working hard in practice so I can get better,” said Simpson.

Freshman Sophia Diaz also had a good day as well taking first in the 100m hurdles, and beating her personal record.

“I did pretty good, I finally beat my personal best even with shin splints,” said Diaz.

Sophomore Jayme Lee did fairly well in last Wednesday’s track meet as she ran the 800m and came in first place for JV’s and third overall with varsity runners in the race.

“I did really good, was really nervous before the race but once it started I was fine.” said Lee. “I feel like I’m getting better and I’m improving my times so I will just keep working hard and hope for the best.”

The girls are looking forward to improving more and are really working hard. Their next meet is this Wednesday against Granite Bay the final home meet of the season.
