“Dr. Grey, scrub in for surgery.”

“Dr. Dorian, we need you in the ER.”

“Dr. House, I need your opinion on this patient!”

“Dr Quartermaine! My husband is dead!”

If you have been watching any television lately, you may have noticed the overwhelming number of doctor shows. At first, I was not interested in any of these shows, but then “Grey’s Anatomy” came around. Being the avid “O.C.” fan that I am, I was immediately interested since the shows has mostly the same subject matter: younger people, scandal, and teenage-focused drama.

Once I found out the show was set at Seattle’s Grace Hospital, I was hooked.

It dawned on me that there is almost a doctor show for anyone, whether you prefer comedy or a soap opera; almost everyone can enjoy a good doctor show these days.

“Grey’s Anatomy” follows interns as they fight to become surgeons. The cast can be compared to the “O.C.” or “One Tree Hill” with a main girl, a “hot” girl, a boyfriend, and a wannabe-boyfriend. The drama is more “high school” based and focuses on the relationships between the characters more than between the doctors and patients.

If you enjoy the “O.C.” or “One Tree Hill” you will enjoy “Grey’s Anatomy.”

“Scrubs” is the funniest of the doctor shows. It is a complete parody and hilarious from start to finish. While most doctor shows have very serious moments, “Scrubs” keeps the comedy coming.

The show follows Dr. Dorian, and his best friend, Turk. They embark on hilarious adventures, most times including making Dr. Perry’s life unbearable. The winning combination of awkward situations, crazy patients, and an evil janitor makes for classic television. If you enjoy laughing and happiness, “Scrubs” is for you.

“House” follows Dr. House, an antisocial doctor who borderlines on the side of genius. While “Grey’s Anatomy” is more character driven, “House” is much more realistic and makes more of an emotional connection with patients, although Dr. House does not.

He is the character you hate to love and wish you were almost like. If you are into reality television, or primetime dramas such as “24” and “Lost”, “House” could be for you.

“General Hospital” has been on the air longer than any student at Rocklin High School has been alive, starting in the 70s. Most of the drama all takes place in the town hospital. The majority of the characters are patients in the hospital, being treated for pregnancy, concussion or amnesia.

This is an obvious daytime soap opera, and if you are into “my brother is the father of my girlfriend’s baby” type drama, then General Hospital is defiantly for you.

While these are just 4 of the many doctor shows, it seems as if no matter what type of person you are, a doctor show could supply you with quality entertainment.
