Homecoming - the big event for Juniors to plan, the highlight of the fall. Weeks and weeks of effort were poured into this event, arranging this dance to be a mystical, Grecian wonder. The weekend came quickly, dawning dark and stormy. Yet, the weather did not dampen any homecoming plans, and excited students rushed to the dance floor. Smiles could be seen at every glance. Dancing feet were still warming up when everything came to a screeching halt. The storm had knocked out the power. Hundreds of nervous students filed out of the gym and into the auditorium.
Some quick thinking and lightning speed action from the administrators organized the Homecoming Court onstage. The Court was announced and presented through the use of a megaphone. Slowly, the tension and frustration increased in the crowd. Keeping control was difficult, however, the entire faculty worked together to calm and reassure the students.
Despite high hopes for electricity, all of the students had to be sent home. Homecoming is rescheduled for Thursday, November 5th. This was surely one homecoming that will not be soon forgotten!
