In just a matter of weeks, I will officially be a senior. And judging by how quickly the rest of high school has flown by, senior year will be no exception. Keeping this in mind, there are a few things I want to accomplish next year. Thus, I present my senior year bucket list:
1. Wear a toga. It’s a tradition for seniors, so who am I to break it? And I even have this lovely Winnie the Pooh sheet that I'm dying to wear.
2. Eat dinner at 4 pm… because we’re seniors, of course! Plus, I'll finally have a reason to pig out after school.
3. Watch all of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movie successively, nonstop. It’s epic, need I explain more?
4. Have an actual senior skip day. Senior skip day is not actually a skip day if the school administrators organize it. Admittedly, this one may be somewhat problematic as I am not a fan of missing school… but having my own "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is so tempting. Now if only I had a Ferrari…
5. Burn some homework and binders. Hey, why not? It’s not like I’ll ever use them again. I'm expecting some major cathartic experience for this one. Or just plain old fun.
6. Learn how to cook real food. The microwave does not count, and I figure I'll be using that enough during college anyways. My goal by the end of senior year is to finally figure out what that one button on my oven is actually for and to be able to make http://www.alaskafromscratch.com/2012/04/10/ricotta-gnocchi/ flawlessly.
7. Run a 10k… possibly. If I work hard and stick to a schedule, this is definitely attainable. I abhor running, so I want to learn to conquer it. I realize it is only 6.2 miles, but that's better than the two or three that I can now run.
8. Have a picnic-- with real food! (refer to number 6). Of course with the whole picnic idea also entails pretty scenery, sun dresses, friends, and a blanket and basket.
9. Write a novel/short story/something. It's about time that I actually do something with my spare time. And if I love reading stories, why don't I write my own? NaNoWriMo occurs in November, when thousands of people pledge to write a novel in one month. To me, this sounds like an excellent opportunity.
10. Go to a renaissance fair. I've always wanted to wear one of those dresses! Luckily, my best friends love me enough to put up with this side of me and actually come along with me.
11. Have a water balloon/ water gun fight. You can never be too old to indulge in a little childish fun. Heck, I'm tempted to go do this right now!
12. Go camping! Armed with cans of bug spray and a few friends, I think even I may be able to survive the great outdoors for a bit. It's also an excuse to live off of s'mores for a day or two.
13. Start a garden. It's a simple goal, but sometimes simple is good.
14. Donate blood. I hate needles but there are people out there who need it.
15. Make a scrap book of all my memories from senior year.
Senior year is fast approaching, and before I know it I'll be writing my senior goodbye. As scary a prospect as all of this is, I cannot wait. I can only wonder: what will next year bring? Until then, goodbye.
Oh, I forgot one last thing though:
16. Graduate!!!
