Mobile applications for websites have become the new trend and school districts, including BISD, have begun producing their own specialized mobile applications to help communicate with parents and other interested parties. Two versions of the Bandera ISD application have recently been released, one for parents and one for BISD staff.
“I open grades and attendance most frequently and it (the application) makes it very easy to look at my child’s grades,’” parent to junior Ian Goz and freshman Meghan Salley, Angela Maldonado said. “I use my android to check at least four times a week.”
BHS’s assistant principal Kay Keen uses the teacher application even more. “I have a binder with all my info in it and I used to have to carry it around everywhere with me,” Keen said. “Now about once a day, I just pull out my phone and have all the same information.”
While neither application is well-known, those using it think highly of it. “It really covers most of what you would need. I can’t think of anything bad to say,” Keen said.
Even the parents find it very hard to criticize.” Perhaps they could organize the landing page…although it is a minor issue … putting the more often used items at the top,” Maldonado said.
So as Bandera ISD puts out another hand towards the future, they take another step towards better communication with the community
