Talented Theatre to perform tonight The Talented Theatre department has announced its last show of the 2010 season, “The Cell Phone Rings for Thee, and Other Plays.” Students will put on the second and final performance of the comedy tonight at 7:30 on the Grace King stage in the gym. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased in advance from Mr. Maggiore in Room 514, or at the door.
Ochsner blood drive a success The Key Club, along with Ochsner Blood Bank, hosted a blood drive on Monday, Nov. 15 in the gym foyer. Ochsner met with 123 prospective donors and successfully collected 95 units of blood. This year’s blood drive was dedicated to math teacher John Plauche, who was recently hospitalized. The Key Club also volunteered at the Heart Walk at Audubon Park in New Orleans on Nov. 21, which helped raise funds for research and education into cardiovascular disease.
Yearbooks on sale in Room 404 The 2010-2011 yearbooks are now on sale for $55. See Mrs. Lampo in Room 404 or any member of the yearbook staff for an order form. Yearbooks from 2000 to 2010 are also on sale for $50, while yearbooks from before that are $40.
Senior Board sells class cards The Senior Board would like to remind students that Irish Cards are being sold for $110 and Celtic Cards for $60. Both cover admission to the Senior Social, Senior Prom and a favor, Senior Breakfast and a favor, graduation tickets, $2 off of every school dance, and a senior shirt. The Irish Card also includes a yearbook. The next date to pay for cards is the week of Jan. 24.
Students honored at NHS induction On Tuesday, Dec. 7, 42 students were honored at the National Honors Society Induction ceremony. These students have demonstrated leadership qualities, maintained a GPA of at least 3.5, and 3participated in 15 or more hours of community service a year.
King raises over $3,000 for Head Start The Executive board has announced that the school has raised over $3,000 for Bikes for Tykes, a program run by the private non-profit organization Head Start. The money went to purchasing approximately bicycles to give to preschool children in financial need at the winter pep rally.
