Being a Senior in high school is not easy never mind being pregnant. This is one of the hardest things that I have ever been through. I came into my Freshman year just waiting for the day that I would become a senior. I thought it would be easy and I would have all the freedom that I had ever wanted. A lot of students come into high school feeling the same way. My dream of this Senior year was over after the last two months of being a Junior.
The end of my Junior year, I was informed that I was two months pregnant. I was scared, sad and devastated. Being pregnant changes your life forever. When I found out I was pregnant I lost everything. I lost my friends; I no longer had a social life. From this point on it was just me. I missed going to social gatherings on the weekends. I missed out on the senior fashion show. The fashion show was something that I was really looking forward to. This all meant a lot to me and I just watched it pass me by and there was nothing I could do.
As time went on I decided to keep the baby. We started school this year September 1st. I was ready as ever, except this time I was a little “heavier” than last year. Most of my classmates found out last year that I was pregnant so they were not surprised when I came in with a huge stomach. But the students who did not know would stare at me and point. This made me sad, but I understand that they just couldn’t believe that I was pregnant.
No matter how hard it is to get up every day I have one dream and it is to graduate and that is just what I am going to do. I have had to do a lot of work to get to this point and I will not just throw it all away. I come to school like every other student and I stay a full day. I get very tired and drained out. This work that I do every day is just going to benefit my future along with my son’s. Despite the fact that my Senior year will never be the Senior year I dreamed of, I hope that spending time with my future son will be worth what I missed.
