Mrs. Nancy Gutman is a teacher at Four County Career Center. She teaches History and Government. She has been teaching at Four County for twenty six years. She started out teaching at Defiance High School for one year than taught in Columbus for a year also.

Mrs. Gutman graduated high school at Warren Western Reserve, in Warren, Ohio. She graduated from college at OSU after four years. What made her become a teacher was that she likes kids and she also likes to help them out in all they do.

Mrs. Gutman likes teaching here at Four County because it gives her a different variety of students. Students are from a lot of different schools and you have students with a lot of different interests. Also, it is a lot different than just a normal high school. At Four County you have unique situations. Her favorite thing about teaching is that everyday is a new challenge, also “I have never had to work on my birthday.” Her least favorite thing about teaching are all of the meetings.

Mrs. Gutman taught at Defiance High School in 1977 and was cut back from that job due to declining enrollment. She kept in touch with the Defiance High School principal who heard about an opening at Four County and recommended her for the job. That is how she heard about Four County Career Center.

Mrs. Gutman was born August 14, 1954 in Warren, Ohio. She has lived in Defiance for twenty seven years and has one son named Craig who is fourteen years old. She also has three step kids, Brian who is twenty five years old and Sarah and Stacy who are twenty three year old twins. She has been married for fifteen years to her husband Robert.

Her hobbies are golfing, bowling, gardening, and she also has a flower business on the side of her teaching career.

Her funniest moment at Four County was when she was teaching her class and someone came into her class with a bucket and threw what was in it all over her. It was filled with motor oil! “It wasn’t funny at the moment, but it is now!”, she said.

The one thing that people don’t know about Mrs. Gutman is that she owns a flower business and decorates for parties and weddings.
