As a crowd of innocent, unknowing seventh graders crowd into Mr. Post's room, they're overwhelmed by an alarming stench. Everyone wonders: Is it the result of his students' lack of personal hygiene or is it Mr. Post himself?

To figure out the source of the stench, you have to figure out how it smells. I'm not the best smeller in the world, especially with a cold clogging up my sinuses, but the moment I walked in, I gagged. Even with my poor sense of smell, I could catch the overwhelming scent of chemicals and air freshener masking a mysterious, revolting odor. I wasn't sure what to make of it, so I asked Mr. Post. "It smells like butt, bodily gases, and poor hygiene. It changes period by period, depending on how much students bathe," he said.

Ravin Harris, seventh grade, an excellent smeller, said, "It smells like Post It Notes!" Not sure if she was referring to the actual notes or Mr. Post, I laughed. Lacy Parrish, seventh grade, said that it smells like "teenagers because they smell like bathrooms." Which raises a question, do students have good habits in their personal hygiene?

Teenagers who have good personal hygiene habits tend to be more successful and approachable. (Did I mention it makes you look good too?) It's common sense: Take a shower, clip your claws, don't pick your nose. This is just the basic list of to-do's and don'ts that you, as a human being, must follow. But did you know, according to livestrong.com, that just washing your hands, cuts the chance of dying from a diarrheal disease in half? Just by washing your hands, you can smell good and save your life.

So what is the source of the bad stench? No one's really sure. Mr. Post believes that the source of the bad smell is not from the students but from a teacher: Mr. McFall, another history teacher who occupied the room two years ago, before Mr. Post. "He burned incense and I think that the incense seeped into the carpet. And, he never bathed!" said Mr. Post.
