Luther Burbank High School (LBHS) competed for the Sacramento County's Regional Occupational Programs (ROP) construction contest which was located at Cosumnes Rvier College. After working for two days, LBHS won for the first time best in show .
Timothy Sandoval I stated, "Competing students took the construction elective under Sacramento County's Regional Occupational Programs, which train students in areas such as auto mechanics, construction and information technology."
Students win awards for safety, craftsmanship, teamwork, best design and best in show, which goes to the structure that is the most impressive when completed.
There were 16 Sacramento region high schools that participated in the competition. Team of students were required to design and build a 96 square foot structure from scratch that were donated to them by the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange.
The construction competition ended Thursday, and students now will sell their structures to help fund their ROP classes or future competitions.
