Valentine's Day is finally here! For all of you lucky couples out there (or those who are simply in love), I decided to come up with a compilation of my favorite love songs. Whether you've been in love for a couple of days or years, these songs could be the soundtrack to your emotions.
- Your Song - Elton John
A song that's sincere, sweet, and so singable that the number of covers that've been made is ridiculous. Often imitated (admirably at times) but never duplicated, Elton John hits all the right notes with this heartfelt piece of music.
- I Wanna Hold Your Hand - The Beatles
The first single, and one of the most widely known Beatles songs is in this playlist for obvious reasons. It's the simple, straightforward, and just plain adorable lyrics that make this song a Valentine's Day staple.
- God Only Knows - The Beach Boys
I feel incredibly sorry for everyone who thinks that The Beach Boys are all surf music, and nothing else. This song is proof that surf music is only scratching the surface with this band. Dive in and enjoy.
- I Walk The Line - Johnny Cash
The Man in Black had a soft side, as seen in this lovely song. Cash's distinct voice is perfectly genuine. Listen to the lyrics, add in the cool guitar and percussion and prepare to fall in love.
- Can You Tell - Ra Ra Riot
This song addresses all of the concerns that fall upon someone when serious feelings come into play. All of the questions, feelings, and worries are here. It's to the point, and adorably so. I can relate so much to every single lyric that it's ridiculous.
- Crush'd (Acoustic) - Say Anything
When Max Bemis, the lead singer/songwriter for Say Anything found love with Sherri DuPree of Eisley, Crush'd was born. The song speaks for itself. Bemis sings about everything he likes about her, and lays his feelings out for all to see. The result is endearing and real.
- Green Eyes - Coldplay
In this song, Chris Martin sings about a girl (who may or may not be Gwyneth Paltrow) and how right she made everything for him. She's his "rock," and if that's not love then I don't know what is.
- I Wanna Be Your Lover - Prince
Where would a Valentine's playlist be without the sexy stylings of Prince? C'mon, don't lie, we've all tried to hit those high notes at some point. Who doesn't like a little purple rain every once in a while, right?
- You're My Best Friend - Queen
I think that the best kinds of relationships are the ones where both parties involved can be friends and significant others at the same time! This song is all about that. Best friends and then some? Sweet, indeed.
- Fidelity - Regina Spektor
Vulnerability is something that a lot of people are scared of. For good reason, too. When you're vulnerable, you can get hurt easier. In this song, Regina Spektor sings about someone who finally brought her walls down and how terrifying and wonderful that can be.
For those with bitter feelings towards V-Day, check out my Anti-Valentine's Day Playlist. Until next time, happy listening!
