As the end of the school year approached, juniors and seniors continued graduation preparation by visiting colleges all over the U.S. During Spring Break, April 2 – 9, many students visited their potential schools.
Senior Ashley Holmes visited JMU with junior Miranda Cormack.
“I was already accepted into the school and wasn’t sure,” Holmes explained. “Once I visited, I instantly fell in love with it.”
Both students went on a tour and listened to an information session in order to grasp what the college had to offer.
“I love the way the campus is laid out and the total atmosphere of the school,” said Holmes.
In addition to JMU, Cormack also visited CNU, Mary Washington, GMU, ODU, and Longwood.
“I still have several schools to tour, but going on a spring break college road trip definitely helped me with narrowing down my decision,” said Cormack.
Junior Summer Smith traveled a little farther to visit her school. Smith went to the University of New England and instantly fell in love with the atmosphere of the town.
“I always thought I wanted a big school, but I fell in love with UNE’s small size. My favorite part about the school was that it was only two miles away from the beach,” said Smith.
Virginia Tech was a very popular school to visit during the break; senior Caitlin Welch went down for a campus tour with her parents and best friend.
“My favorite part of the trip was seeing the Hokie Stone and all the different buildings,” said Welch.
Many students agreed that going on a college road trip during spring break was no waste of time. It was a chance for them to narrow down their options, explore the campus, and get to meet other potential students.
