James Marshall Hendrix is known to be one of the greatest musicians of all time. Jimmy Hendrix is known as possibly the best guitar player of all time, being left-handed and playing a right handed guitar was unheard of. Unfortunately Jimmy Hendrix passed away Sept. 18, 1970 at the age of 27. Now there are several outstanding musicians touring around the country singing his songs and picking his riffs.
On Mar. 16, 2010 the Experience Hendrix Tour rolled into Kansas City at the Uptown Theatre. The show was filled with incredible guitar players and a couple of great singers. But the show was definitely all about the guitar. There were players such as Ernie Isley, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepard and Robert Randolph. The high points of the show were when Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepard took the stage and awed the crowd with their electrifying guitar solos.
Also the Bass player that played with Jimmy Hendrix, Bobby Cox, was there and played some songs with the other artists. The tour was put on by Bobby Cox and former drummer with Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell. There is a new C.D. that has been completely unreleased and has some studio tracks from Jimmy Hendrix called Valleys of Neptune. At the end of the concert Bobby Cox came out and promoted the new record. I fully recommend going to see the show if you hear it is coming close to Kansas City if you are a Hendrix fan. Listening to the blistering guitar solos and great vocals you could swear that Jimmy was there himself.
