The newest craze “YOLO” is an abbreviation for you only live once. It quickly became the new motto of our generation. The song was created by famous artist, Drake ft. Lil Wayne called “The Motto.”
This overused slang word is taking over texts, tweets and status updates.
Not only is this trend irritating and redundant but most often, the phrase doesn’t even make sense when it’s put at the end of a sentence.
Teens use the phrase reptitiously, so when others first hear the phrase, they think it’s cool, so they start saying  it also.
Urban dictionary says “YOLO” can be associated with “you obviously lack originality” as well.
It’s not a lifestyle, it’s an acronym, and it’s more of an excuse to act wild.
Individuals in our generation love to show others just how free they are.
People seem to think we only have one chance to live, so why not live the best way even if that means engagaing in erratic behavior.
The expression has existed long before us, but our generation has taken to it with such intensity because of social networking.
Before Facebook, YOLO might have been a casual expression, used sparingly, to give one’s perspective.
Everyone sees others saying it and doing unreasonable things so they follow in their footsteps.
YOLO is not popular just because you only live once. How about changing the acronym to YDLT which means “you don’t live twice” which would impy responsibility.
