Every four years the United States prepares for a huge change. As one nation, we the people, decide who is fit to carry on the stressful responsibilities of leading our country to success. As of right now the leading republican primary nominee is Mitt Romney. Romney is in the lead with three states in his favor of the five according to the Associated Press.
Mitt Romney, former Massachusetts governor, is one of the potential republican presidential candidates. Romney had won the votes of three states, Florida, New Hampshire, and Nevada as was graphically showed on Wikipedia. Romney’s win over Florida was 46.4 percent favorable and the win with New Hampshire with 39.3 percent. Nevada had 50.1 percent favorable votes for Mitt Romney, his highest approval percentage yet. (also cited from the Associated Press.)
Romney’s plans to rebuild the economy through free enterprise, hard work, and innovation. As well as that, Romney also seeks to reduce taxes, spending, regulation, and government programs cited from his Mitt Romney for President webpage.
The second leading Republican primary candidate is Newt Gingrich. He is trailing behind Romney with his win over South Carolina with 40.4 percent of the voters favor. Gingrich’s plans for America is to make the United States a more desirable place for business’ according to the webpage “Jobs and the Economy | Newt Gingrich 2012”. Gingrich also has plans to lower taxes and create more jobs. He suggests that having Congress extend tax relief for two years will create more jobs. Unfortunately, what if Congress doesn’t decide to do that? What would Newt Gingrich’s plan be then?
Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich have a long way to go before they would be able to officially run for president. At the rate both of them are going, with the constant low blows they throw at each other, some fear they are losing the point of these primaries. If they both have the countries best interest in mind then they are both perfect candidates. As of now it only seems that the personal attacks on each other are what matters the most to them.
