Whether he is known as a PE teacher or a soccer coach, Mr. Michael Villa is a familiar name to everyone at Triad. Although he has had a very successful career at Triad , many people do not realize how many interesting things Mr. Villa has done in his life.
He is obviously known for his outstanding career at Triad as a soccer coach, but his coaching career at other schools has been even more impressive. At a school in Kirkwood, Missouri, his girl’s soccer team was named National Team of the Year by USA Today. He was voted National Girls Soccer Coach of the Year and was in the top five finalists for the Boys Soccer Coach of the Year. He is also in six halls of fame.
As a player, Mr. Villa actually went to college on a full-ride basketball scholarship. While there, he was in two national soccer championships. He was MVP of the Busch National Competition.
Mr. Villa is also involved with baseball. Specifically, he works with the St. Louis Cardinals. He served as a batting practice pitcher. When asked about his experience with the Cardinals, Mr. Villa said, “It’s been great. I’ve been able to meet hall of famers and attend a number of World Series because of it.” He became involved with the organizations 38 years ago when a friend of his who worked with the Cardinals got him the position.
Perhaps the most known fact about Mr. Villa is that he collects spare change. What does he do with all of it? Well, he puts in a large bin (along with contributions from his wife) and eventually cashes it in.
Overall, Mr. Villa is a well-established and all around interesting man with tons of fascinating experiences. One thing is for sure, we should all be thankful to have such an experienced name-worthy person at our school
