As the 2010-2011 hockey season takes off, the St. Louis Blues sweep over the Philadelphia Flyers during their home opening game, competing with a new addition to the forward line, Alex Steen. Alex Steen was drafted as a defenseman from the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2002, but then when he quit performing in Toronto they thought it was time to make a trade. The St.Louis Blues decided to trade Lee Stempniak, a forward for the St.Louis Blues, for Alex Steen during the 2008-2009 season. With the St. Louis Blues trying to build a young, strong, and talented team trading Stempniak for Steen was a wise decision. Even though Alex Steen came to St. Louis as a defenseman, it was a smart choice by the St. Louis blues because Steen is now a power house out on the front line. In past seasons the Blues have been struggling with making things happen and putting the puck in the net, but now with Steen on the offensive end for the Blues things are looking good for the team. Steen has become almost a secret weapon for the Blues because when he came to the Blues organization he was a defenseman and now switching to the offensive end he is capable of playing great defense when he is out scoring goals. Any player that can put the puck in the net as well as being an asset to the defensive line will be a huge plus to the Blues this season. I think that with all the great young talent on the St. Louis Blues including the skills of Alex Steen, the Blues will end up having one of the best seasons since the past couple years.
