ABC’s Happy Town aired its second episode on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, and after a promising start the show is starting to stumble.

     SPOILERS: It’s not that I did not like this episode. I did. I just think this show is moving a little fast. Last week was great. We knew something was eerie about the third floor, and we knew there was a guy nicknamed the Magic Man who used to be the most feared man around in Haplin. And then there was the ending- wow it was great. When the sheriff cut off his own hand for no apparent reason and we found out that our main character was the mysterious Chloe I almost jumped out of my chair. But that was all last week.

     This week, we saw what was on the third floor, which I found disappointing. I was really looking forward to an entire season of guessing what was going on up there, but we found out in episode two. BUMMER. Then we found out who the killer was from the first episode. No, we didn’t see the Magic Man, but finding out the killer from episode 1 already was not very satisfying. And then there was the ending. I mean, it was okay. There was no big twist, and we know Chloe is going to be okay from her car wreck because she is the main character. Still, I thought it was kind of weak.

     Now, on top of all the bad, there were some really good things that happened. I think we are finally getting hints as to who the Magic Man is. There is mystery surrounding the new cop (that whole drug-in-the-coffee bit seemed a little strange), and the acting got much better. The plot definitely kept my attention, as well. Do not get me wrong, I think this is a decent show so far. I just think that the creators are going to wrap up all of the plot points that we liked in the beginning by the time we reach the halfway point of the first season, and then prolong the show with a bunch of fluff we do not really care about. Maybe I am wrong; I hope I am wrong, that is just my thoughts on Happy Town so far.

     Episode 1.3 “Polly Wants a Crack at Her” airs on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 10PM/ 9PM central on ABC.
